Description

Senokot 7.5mg Tablets contain sennosides, a natural ingredient extracted from senna pods, used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation. Senokot works by gently stimulating the muscles in the bowel to help restore the body’s natural rhythm and relieve discomfort.

It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years old and provides predictable overnight relief — helping to promote comfortable, natural bowel movements without harsh effects.

What Senokot Is Used For:

  • Short-term treatment of occasional constipation.

  • Helps restore natural bowel regularity.

  • Useful when dietary or lifestyle changes have not provided relief.

  • Acts within 6–12 hours, typically when taken at bedtime.

Who Can Use This Medicine:

  • Adults and the elderly – suitable for short-term use.

  • Children aged 12 years and over – can use the same dose as adults.

  • Not recommended for children under 12 years.

  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor.

How to use:

Always take this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

For adults and children aged 12 years and over:

  • Take 2 to 4 tablets at night.
  • Swallow whole with a glass of water.
  • Do not take for more than one week unless under medical advice.
  • It is usually sufficient to take Senokot two to three times per week.

If symptoms persist or you have no bowel movement within 3 days, seek medical advice.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Senokot can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.

Common or occasional effects may include:

  • Abdominal cramps or diarrhoea
  • Mild nausea or stomach discomfort
  • Harmless red-brown urine discolouration
  • Rarely, allergic skin reactions such as rash or itching

Prolonged or excessive use can lead to fluid or electrolyte imbalance; stop use and consult your doctor if symptoms such as weakness, dizziness or dehydration occur.
