Brolene 0.15% w/v Eye Ointment is to be used for the treatment of minor eye infections such as “sticky eyes”, conjunctivitis and inflamed eyelids in adults and children.
Brolene Eye Drops contain a medicine called propamidine isetionate. It is used for minor infections of the eye or eyelid. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria, allowing your body to fight off minor eye infections. Signs of infection include sore, red or inflamed eyes, stickiness or a crust on the eyelids.
Wash your hands and gently clean the affected eye or eyelid. Pull down the lower eyelid and apply a small amount (about 1cm) of ointment inside the lower lid or along the eyelid, once or twice a day. Do not let the tube touch your eye. Wash your hands afterwards. Vision may be blurred briefly after applying. If your symptoms have not improved after 2 days, stop and see your doctor. Do not wear contact lenses while using this ointment. It is sterile – throw it away 4 weeks after first opening.
Do not use if you are allergic to dibrompropamidine isetionate or any of the ingredients (including wool fat), or if you wear contact lenses – you should not wear contact lenses while using this ointment.
For use in or around the eye only. Contains wool fat (lanolin), which can occasionally cause a local skin reaction. Your vision may be blurred briefly after applying, so do not drive until you can see clearly. See a doctor if your eye is very painful, your sight is affected, there is swelling around the eye, or your symptoms do not improve within 2 days.

Occasionally stinging, burning or irritation of the eye, or a skin reaction (rash, itching or redness) around the eye. Stop using it and seek advice if this happens.
