Description
Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops 0.1% are used to relive nasal congestion, blocked sinuses and stuffy nose associated with colds, flu and allergies. Helps to clear a blocked nose within minutes and relieve excessive nasal secretions for up to 10 hours. Useful for colds, hay fever and sinusitis.
The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride which opens and clears the nasal passage by reducing the excessive nasal secretions and returning the swollen blood vessels to their normal size.
How to use:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 2 to 4 drops in each nostril up to 3 times daily as needed. Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril. The drops are suitable for children over 12 years of age. The recommended dose should not be exceeded, especially in children and the elderly.
Who should not use it
Do not use if you are allergic to xylometazoline or any ingredient; if you take, or have taken in the last 2 weeks, an MAOI antidepressant; if you have an overactive thyroid or narrow-angle glaucoma; after surgery through the nose or skull base; or in children under 12. Ask your pharmacist first if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or an enlarged prostate.
Warnings & precautions
Do not use for more than 7 days – prolonged use can make a blocked nose come back worse. Avoid spraying into the eyes. To avoid spreading infection, do not share the spray. Stop and seek advice if you get a fast or irregular heartbeat, or blurred vision.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding
Ask your doctor before use.
Possible side effects
Nasal dryness, irritation or a burning feeling, sneezing, nausea or headache; less often a faster heartbeat.
