Description

Sudafed Nasal Spray is a decongestant and is used to provide relief from nasal congestion. The spray is delivered directly to the nasal passages and it works in minutes and lasts for up to 10 hours. The powerful decongestant effectively clears stuffy noses causes by head colds and hayfever. The metered spray gives a precise dosage of decongestant to the nasal passages.

If symptoms persist  discontinue use and consult your doctor.

How to use:

Adults and children 6 years & over: 1 spray into each nostril 2 or 3 times daily. Do not take more than 3 doses in 24 hours.

For children aged 6 to 12 years: Use only when simple measures have failed to provide adequate relief. Consult a pharmacist or doctor before use in children aged 6 – 12 years. Do not use for more than 5  days without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use with other cough and cold medicines.

Children under 6 years: Do not give to children under 6 years.

Prime the bottle before first use by pumping until a fine spray appears. Hold the bottle upright, insert the nozzle into the nostril and spray once into each nostril, up to three times a day (maximum 3 doses in 24 hours). Do not use for more than 7 days in a row.

Safety information

Who should not use it:

Do not use in children under 12, if you are allergic to xylometazoline or any ingredient, if you take or have recently taken (within 2 weeks) an MAOI antidepressant, or after certain types of nasal or brain surgery (see the leaflet).

Warnings & precautions:

For short-term use only – using it for more than 7 days can cause rebound congestion, where the blockage returns or worsens. Speak to your pharmacist before use if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes or an enlarged prostate, or if you take antidepressants or blood-pressure medicines. Do not share the bottle, and avoid spraying into the eyes.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Possible side effects:

Local burning, stinging or dryness in the nose, and sneezing; rebound congestion with overuse; and rarely headache, nausea or palpitations.
