Description

Sudafed Decongestant Syrup contains pseudoephedrine, a decongestant taken by mouth, to relieve a blocked or stuffy nose and sinus congestion caused by colds, flu and allergies such as hay fever. It works from within to reduce the swelling in the nasal passages.

Dosage:

For oral administration

Take every 4 – 6 hours, up to 4 times a day.

  • Adults and children aged 12 and over:  Take two 5ml spoonfuls.
  • Children aged 6 to 12 years: One 5ml spoonful 4 times a day Maximum dose is 20ml. Use only when simple measures have failed to provide adequate relief. Do not use for more than 5 days without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Children under 6 years: Not recommended. Consult a pharmacist or doctor before use in children aged 6 to 12 years.

WARNING: Not more than 4 doses should be given in any 24 hours. Do not exceed the stated dose.

As with all medicines, if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or currently taking any other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Do not take with any other cough and cold medicine.

Do not use if you are allergic to pseudoephedrine or any ingredient; if you have high blood pressure or heart disease, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma or severe kidney problems; or if you take, or have taken in the last 2 weeks, an MAOI antidepressant.

Warnings & precautions:

Ask your pharmacist if you have an enlarged prostate or take other medicines. Stop if you get a fast or irregular heartbeat, agitation or difficulty sleeping.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding:

Do not use unless your doctor advises it.

Possible side effects:

A faster heartbeat, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, dry mouth or headache. Rarely, raised blood pressure or allergic reactions.
