Description

Vermox Oral Suspension contains mebendazole, an anthelmintic (anti-worm) medicine used to treat threadworm (pinworm) and other common gut-worm infections such as roundworm, whipworm and hookworm. As a liquid it suits younger children and anyone who finds tablets hard to swallow.

Dosage:

Shake the bottle before use. For oral use only.

For Adults and Children over the age of 2:

Threadworm infection (Enterobiasis)
Take one 5ml dose. After two to four weeks take another 5ml dose.

Common worm infections (Ascariasis, trichuriasis, ankylostomiasis and mixed infections)
Take one 5ml dose twice daily (i.e. morning and evening) for three consecutive days or as directed by your doctor.

Other worm infections (Taeniasis and strongyloidiasis)
Adults: Take two 5ml doses (10ml) twice daily (morning and evening) for three consecutive days.
Children 2 years and over: Take one 5ml dose twice daily (i.e. morning and evening) for three consecutive days.

Who should not use it:

Do not use if you are allergic to mebendazole or any of the ingredients, or in children under 2 (unless a doctor advises).

Warnings & precautions:

Do not take with metronidazole, as the combination has been linked to a serious skin reaction. Some ingredients (for example sunset yellow, E110) may cause allergic reactions, and the medicine contains sodium. Follow the hygiene advice in the leaflet to stop the worms coming back.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding:

Do not use unless your doctor advises it.

Possible side effects:

Tummy discomfort, wind, nausea or diarrhoea. Rarely, allergic reactions (rash or swelling), and very rarely effects on blood counts or, in infants, convulsions.
