Actifed Tablets have a dual action to treat nasal congestion as well as drying up a runny nose. Actifed Tablets contain a decongestant to relieve nasal congestion as well as blocked sinuses and catarrh. They also contain an ingredient which works in two ways: an antihistamine action to relieve the symptoms of allergies, such as sneezing and a drying action to relieve other symptoms of colds, flu and hayfever such as runny noses and watery eyes.
Actifed Tablets are a high-performance treatment designed to tackle the congestion and discomfort caused by the common cold, hayfever, and other upper respiratory allergies. How Actifed Works: The Science
Actifed utilises two primary active ingredients to help you breathe easier:
- Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride (60mg): A powerful decongestant that works by shrinking the swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages, allowing air to flow more freely and reducing sinus pressure.
- Triprolidine Hydrochloride (2.5mg): An antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. This helps stop sneezing, runny noses, and itchy, watery eyes associated with allergies.
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 12 years: One tablet every 4-6 hour up to 4 times a day. Do not exceed the stated dose.
- Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Contains
- Each tablet contains: 2.5mg Triprolidine hydrochloride and 60mg Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.
- Other ingredients include: lactose monohydrate, Maize starch, Povidone, Magnesium stearate (E572).
Warning:
Because Actifed contains a stimulant (Pseudoephedrine), it is not suitable for everyone. Please check the following before use:
- Heart Health: Not suitable for those with high blood pressure or significant heart disease.
- Medication Conflicts: Do not take if you are currently taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression.
- Other Conditions: Consult our pharmacist if you have diabetes, an overactive thyroid, or glaucoma.
- Drowsiness Warning: This medicine may cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcohol during treatment.
